Of glory on the consecrated hour
Of man, in audience with the Deity.
Who worships the great God, that instant joins
The first in heav'n, and sets his foot on hell.

My son, give me thy heart.-Prov. xxiii. 26.

If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and follow me.Luke ix. 23.

Be not weary in well doing.-2 Thes. iii. 13.

Awake, my soul, stretch every nerve,

with vigour on;
A heavenly race demands thy zeal,

And an immortal crown.

A cloud of witnesses around

Hold thee in full survey :
Forget the steps already trod,

And onward urge thy way.

'Tis God's all-animating voice

That calls thee from on high ;
'Tis His own hand presents the prize

To thine aspiring eye.

Blest Saviour, introduced by Thee,

Have I my race begun ;
And crown'd with victory, at Thy feet
I'll lay my honours down.

While truth our track across the desert guides,
For all our need God's tender care provides :
The very terrors that alarm our breast,
Endear the more the Saviours promis'd rest :
Onward we press, through peril, toil, and strife,
And force, through death, a way to endless life.

O Lord, Thy heavenly grace impart,
And fix my frail inconstant heart;
Henceforth my chief delight shall be
To dedicate myself to Thee-
To Thee, my God, to Thee !

Whate'er pursuits my time employ,
One thought shall fill my soul with joy-
That silent, secret thought shall be
That all my hopes are fix'd on Thee-
On Thee, my God, on Thee!

Thy glorious eye pervadeth space,
Thou’rt present, Lord, in every place ;
And wheresoe'er my lot shall be,
Still shall my spirit cling to Thee-
To Thee, my God, to Thee !

Renouncing every worldly thing,
Safe! 'neath the covert ef Thy wing-
My sweetest thought henceforth shall be
That all I want I find in Thee
In Thee, my God, in Thee !

I have called Thee Abba, Father,

I have set my heart on Thee ;
Storms may howl, and clouds may gather,

All must work for good to me.

Soul, then know thy full salvation,

Rise, o'er sin, and fear, and care ; Joy to find in every station

Something still to do or bear.

Think what spirit dwells within thee,

Think what Father's smiles are thine ; Think that Jesus died to save thee :

Child of heaven, canst thou repine ?

Haste thee on from grace to glory,

Arm’d by faith, and wing'd by prayer, Heaven's eternal day before thee,

God's own hand shall guide thee there.

Soon shall close thy earthly mission,

Soon shall pass thy pilgrim days ; Hope shall change to glad fruition, Faith to sight, and prayer to praise !

O let me think how Thou didst leave

Untasted every pure delight ;
To fast, to faint, to watch, to grieve,

The toilsome day, the houseless night,
