2 Accept our faint attempts to love, Our frailties, Lord, forgive; We would be like thy saints above, And praise thee while we live.
Increase, O Lord, our faith and hope, And fit us to ascend
Where the assembly ne'er breaks up, The Sabbath ne'er shall end ;-
4 Where we shall breathe in heavenly air With heavenly lustre shine, Before the throne of God appear, And feast on love divine ;-
5 Where we in high seraphic strains, Shall all our powers employ; Delighted range the ethereal plains, And take our fill of joy.
Psalm 5.
1 LORD, in the morning thou shalt hear My voice ascending high;
To thee will. I direct my prayer, To thee lift up mine eye.
2 Up to the hills where Christ is gone, To plead for all his saints, Presenting at his Father's throne Our songs and our complaints.
3 Thou art a God before whose sight The wicked shall not stand; Sinners shall ne'er be thy delight, Nor dwell at thy right hand.
4 But to thy house will I resort To taste thy mercies there; I will frequent thy holy court, And worship in thy fear,
5 Oh, may thy Spirit guide my feet In ways of righteousness! Make every path of duty straight, And plain before my face.
Psalm 122.
1 WITH joy we hail the sacred day Which God hath called his own; With joy the summons we obey To worship at his throne.
2 Thy chosen temple, Lord, how fair! Where willing votaries throng
To breathe the humble, fervent prayer, And the choral song. pour
3 Spirit of grace! oh, deign to dwell Within thy church below; Make her in holiness excel, With pure devotion glow.
4 Let peace within her walls be found; Let all her sons unite,
To spread with grateful zeal around Her clear and shining light.
5 Great God, we hail the sacred day Which thou hast called thine own; With joy the summons we obey To worship at thy throne.
Psalm 36 9.
1 ETERNAL Sun of righteousness, Display thy beams divine, And cause the glory of thy face, Upon my heart to shine.
2 Light, in thy light, oh, may I see, Thy grace and mercy prove, Revived, and cheered, and blest by thec, The God of pardoning love.
3 Lift up thy countenance serene, And let thy happy child Behold, without a cloud between, The Father reconciled.
4 On me thy promised peace bestow, The peace by Jesus given ;- The joys of holiness below, And then the joys of heaven.
Psalm 3: 5.
1 ONCE more, my soul, the rising day Salutes thy waking eyes;
Once more, my voice, thy tribute pay To him that rules the skies.
2 Night unto night his name repeats, The day renews the sound, Wide as the heaven on which he sits, To turn the seasons round.
3 'Tis he supports my mortal frame; My tongue shall speak his praise; My sins would rouse his wrath to flame, And yet his wrath delays.
4 Great God, let all my hours be thine, While I enjoy the light; Then shall my sun in smiles decline, And bring a pleasant night.
Psalm 122.
1 How did my heart rejoice to hear My friends devoutly say: "In Zion let us all appear, And keep the solemn day."
2 I love her gates, I love the road; The church, adorned with grace, Stands like a palace built for God, To show his milder face.
3 Up to her courts, with joys unknown, The holy tribes repair;
The Son of David holds his throne, And sits in judgment there.
4 He hears our praises and complaints; And, while his awful voice Divides the sinners from the saints, We tremble and rejoice.
5 Peace be within this sacred place, And joy a constant guest! With holy gifts and heavenly grace
Be her attendants blest!
6 My soul shall pray for Zion still, While life or breath remains: There my best friends, my kindred, dwell; There God, my Saviour, reigns.
1 COME, ye that love the Saviour's name, And joy to make it known;
The Sovereign of your hearts proclaim, And bow before his throne.
2 Behold your King, your Saviour, crowned With glories all divine;
And tell the wondering nations round, How bright those glories shine.
3 When in his earthly courts we view The beauties of our King, We long to love as angels do, And with their voice to sing.
4 Oh, for the day, the glorious day! When heaven and earth shall raise With all their powers, the raptured lay, To celebrate thy praise.
1 COME, thou desire of all thy saints! Our humble strains attend,
While with our praises and complaints, Low at thy feet we bend.
2 How should our songs, like those above, With warm devotion rise! How should our souls, on wings of love, Mount upward to the skies!
3 Come, Lord! thy love alone can raise In us the heavenly flame; Then shall our lips resound thy praise, Our hearts adore thy name.
4 Dear Saviour, let thy glory shine, And fill thy dwellings here, Til life, and love, and joy divine A heaven on earth appear.
5 Then shall our hearts enraptured say, Come, great Redeemer! come, And bring the bright, the glorious day, That calls thy children home.
2 Enter with all thy glorious train, Thy Spirit and thy word; All that the ark did once contain Could no such grace afford.
Psalm 132: 8.
1 ARISE, O King of grace, arise, And enter to thy rest; Lo! thy church waits, with longing eyes, Thus to be owned and blest.
3 Here, mighty God, accept our vows, Here let thy praise be spread; Bless the provisions of thy house, And fill thy poor with bread.
