PSALM CVIII.—(C.M.)

O GOD, my heart is fully bent
To magnify thy name;

My tongue with cheerful songs of praise
Shall celebrate thy fame.

Because thy mercy's boundless height
The highest heav'n transcends,
And far beyond the starry spheres
Thy faithful truth extends.

Be thou, O God, exalted high
O'er this created frame;

And let the earth, with one consent,
Confess thy glorious name.
That so thy chosen people thee
Their Saviour may declare;
O let thy hand protect them still,
And answer thou their prayer.

PSALM CXI.-(L. M.)

PRAISE ye the Lord! our God to praise
My soul her utmost pow'rs shall raise :
With private friends, and in the throng
Of saints, his praise shall be my song.
His works for greatness though renown'd,
His wondrous works with ease are found
By those who seek for them aright,
And in the pious search delight.
His works are all of matchless fame,
And universal glory claim:

His truth confirm'd through ages past,
Shall to eternal ages last.

E

By precept he hath us enjoin'd
To keep his wondrous works in mind;
And to posterity record

That good and gracious is the Lord.

PSALM CXII.—(L. M.)

BLEST is the man, that stands in awe
Of God, and loves his sacred law:
Honour and peace his days attend,
And blessings to his seed descend.
The soul, that's filled with heav'nly light,
Shines brightest in affliction's night;
Beset with threat'ning dangers round,
Unmov'd shall he maintain his ground.
Ill tidings never can surprise
His heart, that fix'd on God relies;
On safety's rock he sits, and sees
The shipwreck of his enemies.

PSALM CXIII.-(P. M.)

YE saints and servants of the Lord,
The triumphs of his name record;
His sacred name for ever bless:
Where'er the circling sun displays
His rising beams, or setting rays,
Due praise to his great name address.
God through the world extends his sway;
The regions of eternal day

But shadows of his glory are.
With him, whose majesty excels
The glorious light in which he dwells,

Let no created pow'r compare.

Though 'tis beneath his state to view
In highest heav'n what angels do,

Yet he to earth vouchsafes his care;
He takes the needy from his cell,
Advancing him in courts to dwell,
Companion to the greatest there.

PSALM CXVI.—(c. M.)
WHAT shall I render, O my God,
For all thy kindness shewn!
My feet shall visit thine abode,
My songs address thy throne.
Among the saints that fill thy house
My off'rings shall be paid;
There shall my zeal perform the vows
My soul in sorrow made.

How happy all thy servants are!
How great thy grace to me!

My life, which thou hast made thy care,
Lord, I devote to thee.

Now I am thine, for ever thine,

Nor shall my purpose move:

Thy hands have loos'd my bands of pain, And bound me with thy love.

PSALM CXVII.—(L.M.)

FROM all that dwell below the skies,
Let the Creator's praise arise;
Let the Redeemer's name be sung,
Through ev'ry land, by ev'ry tongue.

Eternal are thy mercies, Lord!
Eternal truth attends thy word;

Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore,
Till suns shall rise and set no more.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav'nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

PSALM CXVIII.—(c. m.)

THIS is the day the Lord hath made,
He calls the hours his own:
Let heav'n rejoice, let earth be glad,
And praise surround the throne.
To-day he rose, and left the dead,
And Satan's empire fell;
To-day the saints his triumph spread,
And all his wonders tell.

Hosannah to th' anointed King,
To David's holy Son!

Help us, O Lord, descend and bring
Salvation from thy throne.

Blest be the Lord, who comes to men
With messages of grace;

Who comes in God the Father's name,
To save our sinful race.

PSALM CXIX.-Part 1. (c. M.)

How shall the young preserve their ways
From all pollution free?

By making still their course of life

With thy commands agree.

With my whole heart for thee I seek,
To thee for succour pray;
O! suffer not my careless steps
From thy right paths to stray.
Safe in my heart, and closely hid,
Thy word, my treasure, lies;
To succour me with timely aid,
When sinful thoughts arise.
Secur'd by that, my grateful soul
Shall ever bless thy name;
O teach me by thy righteous laws
My future life to frame.

PSALM CXIX.-Part 2. (c. M.)

O THAT the Lord would guide my ways,
To keep his statutes still!

O that my God would grant me grace
To know and do his will!

O send thy Spirit down, to write
Thy laws upon my heart;
Nor let my tongue indulge deceit,
Nor act the liar's part.

Turn off from vanity mine eyes;
Let no corrupt design,
Nor covetous desires arise
Within this soul of mine.

Order my footsteps by thy word,
And make my heart sincere;
Let sin have no dominion, Lord!
But keep my conscience clear.
