3 And it came to pass at the seven Years End, "that the Woman returned out of the Land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the King for her House, and for her Land.
4 And the King talked with Gehazi the Servant of the Man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the Great Things that Elisha hath done.
5 And it came to pass as he was telling the King how he had restored a Dead Body To Life, that behold, the Woman whose Son he had Restored To Life, cried to the King for her House, and for her Land, and Gehazi said, My Lord, O King, this is the Woman, and this is her Son, whom Elisha Restored to Life.
6 And when the King asked the Woman, she told him. So the King appointed unto her a certain Officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the Fruits of the Field, since the Day that she left the Land, even until now.
7 And Elisha came to Damascus; and Benhadad the King of Syria was sick, and it was told him, saying, The Man of God is come hither.
8 And the King said unto Hazael, Take a Present in thine Hand, and go meet the Man of God, and enquire of the Lord by him, saying, shall I recover of this Disease?
9 So Hazael went to meet him, and took a Present with hini, even of every good Thing of Damascus, forty Camels Burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy Son Benhadad King of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this Disease?
i o And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the Lord hath shewed me, that he shall Surely Die.
Ii And he settled his Countenance ftedfastly, until he was ashamed: and the Man of God Wept.
12 And Hazael said, Why weepeth my Lord? And he answered, Because I know the Evil that thou wilt do unto the Children of Israel: their strong Holds wilt thou set on fire, and- their young Men wilt thou slay with the Sword, and wilt dash their Children, and rip up their Women with Child.
13 And Hazael said, But what, is thy Servant a Dog that he should Do this great Thing? And Elisha answered, The Lord hath shewed me that thou shalt be King over Syria.
14 So he departed from Elissha, and came to his Master, who said to him, What said Elissha to thee? and he answered, He told me that thou shouldst surely recover.
15 And it came to pass on the Morrow, that he took a thick Cloth, and dipt it in Water, and spread it on his Face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.

1 Jehoram succeeding Jehojhaphat, slayetb his Brethren: 5 His wicked Reign. 8 Edom and Libnah revolt. 1 z The Prophecy of Elijah against him in Writing. 16 Philistines and Arabians oppress him: 18 His incurable Disease, infamous Death, and Burial.
Ver. 1 ^^^T O W Jehoshaphat slept with his Fathers, and J_N was buried with his Fathers in the City of David: and Jehoram his Son reigned in his stead.
2 And he had Brethren the Sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah: all thefe were the Sons of Jehoshaphat King of Israel.
3 And their Father gave them great Gifts of Silver and of Gold, and of precious Things, with senced Cities in Judah: but the Kingdom gave he to Jehoram, because he was the First-born.
4 Now when Jehoram was risen up to the Kingdom of his Father, he strengthened himself, and slew all his Brethren with the Sword, and divers also of the Princes of Israel.
5 Jehoram was thirty and two Years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight Years in Jerusalem.
6 And he walked in the Way of the Kings of Israel, like as did the House of Ahab: for he had the Daughter of Ahab to Wise: and he wrought that which was evil in the Eyes of the Lord.
7 Howbeit, the Lord would not Destroy the House of David, because of the Covenant that he had made with Davidy and as he Promised to give a Light to him, and to his Sons for ever.
8 In his Days the Edomites revolted from under the Dominion of Judah, and made themselves a King.
g Then Jehoram went forth with his Princes, and all his Chariots with him: and he rofe up by Night, and smote
the Edomites which compassed him in, and the Captains of the Chariots.
10 So theEdomites revolted from under the Hand of Judah unto this Day. The fame time also did Libnah revolt from under his Hand; because he had Forsaken the Lord God of his Fathers.
, 11 Moreover, he made high Places in the Mountains of judah, and caused the Inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit Fornication, and compelled Judah thereto.
12 And there came a Writing to him from Elijah the Prophet, saying, Thus faith the Lord God of David thy Father, Because thou hast not Walked in the Ways of Jehoshaphat thy Father, nor in the Ways of Asa King of Judah,
13 But hast walked in the Way of the Kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the Inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a Whoring, like to the Whoredoms of the House of AHab, and also hast slain thy Brethren of thy Father's House, which were Better than thyself:
14 Behold, with a great Plague will the Lord smite thy People, and thy Children, and thy Wives, and all thy Goods.
15 And thou shalt have great Sickness, by Disease of thy Bowels, until thy Bowels fall out by reason of the Sickness Day by Day.
16 Moreover, the Lord stirred up against Jehoram the Spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians.
17 And they came up into Judah, and brake into it, and carried away all the Substance that was found in the King's House, and his Sons also and his Wives; so that there was never a Son left him, save Jehoahaz the youngest* of his Sons.
18 And after all this, the Lord Smote him in his Bowels with an Incurable Disease.
19 And it came to pass that in process of Time, after the End of two Years, his Bowels fell out by reason of his Sickness: so he died of sore Diseases: And his People made no Burning for him, like the Burning of his Fathers.
zo Thirty and two Years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight Years, and departed without being Desired: howbeit they buried him in the City of David, but not in the Sepulchres of the Kings.
II. KINGS, CHAP. IX.
I EUJha sendetb a young Prophet with Instruflions to anoint Jehu at Ramoth-gilead. 4 The Prophet having done hit Message, sleetb. 11 Jehu being made King by the Soldiers, killeth Joram in the Field of Naboth. 27 Ahaziah is stain at Gur, and buried at Jerusalem. 30 Proud Jezebel is thrown down out of a Window, and eaten by Dogs.
Ver. 1 AND Elissha the Prophet called one of the Children XX of the Prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy Loins, and take this Box of Oil in thine Hand, and go to Ramoth-gilead.
z And when thou comest thither, look out there Jehu the Son of Jehoshaphat, the Son of Nimshi, «nd go in, and make him arise up from among his Brethren, and carry him to an inner Chamber.
3 Then take the Box of Oil, and pour it on his Head, and say, Thus Saith the Lord, I have anointed thee King over Israel: then open the Door, and flee, and tarry not.
4 So the young Man, the Prophet, went to Ramothgilead.
5 And when he came, behold, the Captains of the Host were fitting; and he said, I have an Errand to thee, O Captain. And Jehu said, Unto which of all us? And he said, To thee, O Captain.
6 And he arofe, and went into the House, and he poured the Oil on his Head, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I have Anointed thee King over the People of the Lord, even over Israel.
7 And thou shalt smite the House of Ahab thy Master, that I may Avenge the Blood of my Servants the Prophets, and the Blood of all the Servants of the Lord at the Hand of Jezebel.
8 For the whole House of Ahab shall perish.
9 And I will make the House of Ahab like the House of Jeroboam, the Son of Nebat, and like the House of Baasha the Son of Ahijah.
10 And the Dogs shall eat Jezebel in the Portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. And he opened the Door, and fled.
11 Then Jehu came forth to the Servants of his Lord,
and and one said unto him, Is all well? wherefore came this mad Fellow to thee? And he said unto them, Ye know the Man, and his Communication.
12 And they said, It is salse, tell us now, and he said, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus Saith the Lord, I have Anointed thee King over Israel.
13 Then they hasted, and took every Man his Garment, and put it under him on the top of the Stairs, and blew with Trumpets, saying, Jehu is King.
14 So Jehu conspired against Joram: (Now Joram had kept Ramoth-gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael King of Syria.
15 But King Joram was returned to be healed in Jezreel, of the Wounds which the Syrians had given him, when he fought with Hazael King of Syria.) And Jehu said, If it be your Minds, then let none go forth, nor efcape out of the City, to go to tell it in Jezreel.
16 So Jehu rode in a Chariot, and went to Jezreel (for Joram lay there) and Ahaziah King of Judah was come down to see Joram.
17 And there stood a Watchman on the Tower in Jezreel, and he spied the Company of Jehu as he came, and said, I see a Company. And Joram said, Take an Horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, Is it Peace?
18 So there went one on Horseback to meet him, and said, Thus saith the King, Is it Peace? And Jehu said, What hast thou to Do with Peace? turn thee behind me. And the Watchman told, saying, The Messenger came to them, but he cometh not again.
19 Then he sent out a second on Horseback, which came to them, and said, Thus saith the King, Is it Peace? And Jehu answered, What hast thou to do with Peace? turn thee behind me.
zo And the Watchman told, saying, He came even unto them, and cometh not again: and the Driving is like the Driving of Jehu; for he driveth suriously.
21 And Joram said, Make ready. And his Chariot was made ready. And Joram King of Israel, and Ahaziah King of Judah went out each in his Chariot, and they went out against Jehu, and met him in the Portion of Naboth.
22 And it came to pass when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it Peace, Jehu? And he answered, What Peace,
