They shall talk of thy power." MISS WILLIAMS.
HILE thee I seek, protecting Power!
Be my vain wishes stilled;

And may this consecrated hour

With better hopes be filled!

2 Thy love the power of thought bestowed;
To thee my thoughts would soar:
Thy mercy o'er my life has flowed;
That mercy I adore.

3 In each event of life, how clear
Thy ruling hand I see!

Each blessing to my soul more dear,
Because conferred by thee.

4 In every joy that crowns my days,
In every pain I bear,

My heart shall find delight in praise,
Or seek relief in prayer.

5 When gladness wings my favored hour,
Thy love my thoughts shall fill ;
Resigned, when storms of sorrow lower,
My soul shall meet thy will.

6 My lifted eye, without a tear,

The gathering storm shall see;

My steadfast heart shall know no fear;
That heart will rest on thes.

All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry

Every thing to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,—
All because we do not carry

Every thing to God in prayer.

2 Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,-
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

3 Are we weak and heavy laden,

Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Saviour, still our refuge,—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do our friends despise, forsake us?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In his arms he'll take and shield us,
We shall find a solace there.

Y God! is any hour so sweet,
From blush of morn to evening star,

As that which calls me to thy feet

: The hour of prayer? :||

2 Blest is the tranquil hour of morn,
And blest that hour of solemn eve,
When, on the wings of prayer up-borne,
|: The world I leave. :||

3 Then is my strength by thee renewed;
Then are my sins by thee forgiven;
Then dost thou cheer my solitude
|: With hope of heaven. :||

4 Hushed is each doubt, gone every fear;
My spirit seems in heaven to stay;
And ev'n the penitential tear

||: Is wiped away. :||

5 Lord! till I reach that blissful shore,.
No privilege so dear shall be
As thus my inmost soul to pour
||:In prayer to thee. :

OLEST hour! when mortal man retires
To hold communion with his God,
To send to heaven his warm desires,
And listen to the sacred word.

2 Blest hour! when God himself draws nigh,
Well pleased his people's voice to hear,
To hush the penitential sigh,

And wipe away the mourner's tear.

3 Blest hour! for, where the Lord resorts,
Foretastes of future bliss are given,
And mortals find his earthly courts
The house of God,-the gate of heaven!

Luke 10: 39.

H that I could for ever dwell,
Delighted at the Saviour's feet;
Behold the form I love so well,

And all his tender words repeat!

MRS E REED.

2 The world shut out from all my soul,
And heaven brought in with all its bliss,-
Oh! is there aught, from pole to pole,
One moment to compare with this?

3 This is the hidden life I prize-
A life of penitential love!
When most my follies I despise,

And raise my highest thoughts above.

4 Thus would I live till nature fail,
And all my former sins forsake;
Then rise to God within the vail,
And of eternal joys partake.

I NEED THEE.

Rev. ROBERT LOWRY.

REFRAIN.

I need thee, O I need thee: Eve-ry hour I

need thee; Oh, bless me now, my Saviour, I come to thee.

121.

MRS. A. HAWKS.

I

Col. 4: 2.

NEED thee every hour,
Most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like thine,
Can peace afford.

2 I need thee every hour;
Stay thou near by ;
Temptations lose their power
When thou art nigh.

3 I need thee every hour,
In joy or pain;

Come quickly and abide,
Or life is vain.

4 I need thee every hour;
Teach me thy will;

And thy rich promises
In me fulfill.
