mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation.

We desire to humble ourselves before thee, at thy footstool, in unfeigned penitence, and with the deepest contrition of soul to acknowledge our guilt and unworthiness.

We have sinned, and have committed iniquity; we have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments. To us, O Lord, belongeth confusion of face, because we have sinned against thee, and broken thy holy laws.

Justly mightest thou hide from us the light of thy countenance, and visit us with merited tokens of thy displeasure. But thy nature and property is ever to have mercy and to forgive: yea, to the Lord our God

belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him.

O Lord, according to thy righteousness, we beseech thee, let thine anger be turned away from us. Blot out our transgressions for thine own sake, and remember not our sins. Take away all our iniquity, receive us graciously, and make us joyful in the knowledge and love of thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Forgive the sins which we have this day more especially committed against thee. May we retire to rest at peace with thee, and with all mankind; and do thou defend us from every danger through the approaching night.

We commend to thy blessing all for whom it is our duty to pray.

Their several situations and necessities are fully known to thee; do thou graciously adapt thy mercies according to their respective need.

O let thy Church experience the comfort of thy continual presence, as well as the advantage of thy special protection. May Israel have cause to rejoice in Him that made him; and the children of Zion to be joyful in their King. Save thy people, O Lord, and bless thine inheritance.

Extend, we beseech thee, the boundaries of the Redeemer's Kingdom; and may the number of those who hear and embrace the Gospel be abundantly increased in every part of the world.

Let thy gracious favour and blessing accompany those faithful ministers of Jesus Christ, who, for his

name's sake, go forth with the glad tidings of salvation into distant lands, preaching peace through Him. O let them not run in vain, neither labour in vain!

And now, Lord, accept, we beseech thee, our grateful tribute of unfeigned praise, for the mercies of the day past, as well as for those of our whole lives. We thank thee for [continued health, and strength, and for]* the supply of our returning bodily wants. But more especially we praise thee for spiritual blessings; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory, which thou hast afforded us, through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Accept and bless us, we pray thee, for his sake; to whom with thee, O

MORNING PRAYER II.

O LORD, our Governor, how excellent is thy name in all the world: thou hast set thy glory above the heavens. Thou art the first, and thou art the last; and besides thee there is no God. Thou givest to all, life, and breath, and all things.

We are thy dependent creatures; and as such we acknowledge thy sovereignty over us, and praise thee for thy dealings with us.

Thou hast visited us with the
