N. V. O RENDER thanks to God above,
Extend to me that favour, Lord, The fountain of eternal love; Thou to Thy chosen dost afford : Whose mercy firm through ages past When Thou return'st to set them free, Has stood, and shall for ever last. Let Thy salvation visit me. Who can His mighty deeds express, O may I worthy prove to see Not only vast, but numberless ?
Thy saints in full prosperity! What mortal eloquence can raise That I the joyful choir may join, His tribute of immortal praise ?
And count Thy people's triumph mine.
To east, to west, to south, to north,
Condemn'd awhile to roam;
And call'd the wanderers home.
A helpless, hopeless train;
They seek, but seek in vain.
He guides, directs their feet,
They reach their destined seat.
Whose mercy thus they prove,
I.-(1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.)
and servants of the Lord,
Due praise to His great Name address.
God through the world extends His sway,
But shadows of His glory are.
Let no created pow'r compare.
Though 'tis beneath His state to view
Yet He to earth vouchsafes His care;
Companion to the greatest there.
