183.

THROUGH the changes of the day, Kept by Thy sustaining power,

Offerings of thanks we pay,

Father in this evening hour; Praises to Thy Name belong,

Source and Giver of our good! And, though feeble is our song, It shall speak our gratitude.

From the dangers which have frown'd,
From the snares in secret set,
We have, through Thy mercy, found
Safety and deliverance yet!
And Thy loving-kindness hath

All the day to us been shown,

While profusely on our path

Richest blessings have been strown.

Spirit! who hast been our Light,

And the Guardian of our way,

Let Thy mercy and Thy might
Keep us for another day!
O'er our sleep, with sleepless eye,

Watch, and sweet shall be our rest;
And when morning gilds the sky,
Our awaking shall be bless'd!
