PSALM CXLV. 1, 2 THEE I'll extol, my God and King, This tribute daily I will bring, 3 Thou, Lord, beyond compare art great, Thy majesty, with boundless height, 4 Renown'd for mighty acts, thy fame 5,6 Whilst I thy glory and renown, 7 The praise, that to thy love belongs, Thy truth of all their grateful songs 8 The Lord is good, fresh acts of grace His anger moves with slowest pace, 9, 10 Thy love through earth extends its fame, To all thy works express'd: These show thy praise, whilst thy great Name 11 They, with the glorious prospect fir'd, And thy great pow'r, by all admir'd, 12 God's glorious works of ancient date And thus his kingdom's royal state 13 His steadfast throne, from changes free, His boundless sway no end shall see, The Second Part. 4, 15 The Lord does them support that fall, 16 Whate'er their various wants require, And so fulfils the just desire M 17, 18 How holy is the Lord, how just, 19 He grants the full desires of those And will their troubles soon compose, 20 The Lord preserves all those with care 21 My time to come, in praises spent, 1,20 PSALM CXLVI. Praise the Lord, and thou, my soul, His wondrous love, while life shall last, 3 On kings, the greatest sons of men, They cannot save in dang'rous times, 4 Depriv'd of breath, to dust they turn, And all their thoughts and vain designs 5 Then happy he, who Jacob's God- Who still with well-plac'd hope the Lord The Lord, who made both heav'n and carth, Will never quit his steadfast truth, Nor make his promise vain. 7 The poor opprest from all their wrongs He gives the hungry needful food, 3 By him the blind receive their sight, With kind regard and tender love ? The strangers he preserves from harm, Defends the widow, and the wiles 10 The God that does in Sion dwell Is our eternal King: 1 From age to age his reign endures; PSALM CXLVII. Praise the Lord with hymns of joy, For pleasant, good, and comely 'tis 2 His holy city God will build, Though levell'd with the ground; 3, 4 He kindly heals the broken hearts, 5, 6 Great is the Lord, and great his pow'r, The meek he raises, but throws down 7 To God, the Lord, a hymn of praise To songs of triumph tune the harp, 8 He covers heav'n with clouds, and thence Through him, on mountain tops, the grass 9 He savage beasts, that loosely range, He feeds the raven's tender brood, 10 He values not the warlike steed, 11 But he, to him that fears his Name, To him that on his boundless grace 12, 13 Let Sion and Jerusalem To God their praise address; 14, 15 Through all their borders he gives peace With finest wheat they're fed; He speaks the word, and what he wills 16 Large flakes of snow, like fleecy wool, And hoary frost, like ashes spread, 17 When, join'd to these, he does his hail 18 He sends his word, which melts the ice; And soon the streams, congeal'd before, 19 By him his statutes and decrees To heathen lands his oracles, PSALM CXLVIII. 1, 2 YE boundless realms of joy, His praise your song employ To sing his praise. 3, 4 Thou moon, that rul'st the night, And sun, that guid'st the day; Ye glitt'ring stars of light, To him your homage pay. His praise declare, Ye heav'ns above, In liquid air. 5, 6 Let them adore the Lord, They all from nothing came; From changes free; His firm decree Stands ever fast. 7, 8 Let earth her tribute pay; Praise him, ye dreadful whales, Hallelujah. Fire, hail, and snow, And winds that, where 9, 10 By hills and mountains, (all And trees for fruit design'd; And creeping thing, 11, 12 Let all of royal birth, With those of humbler frame, His matchless praise proclaim.
