PREFACE. It is now twenty-one years since - Psalms and Hymns first published, and offered to the Churches of our Denomination. It has long been a favourite book amongst our people, as is evident from the fact that during that period some Eight HUNDRED THOUSAND COPIES have been sold; and, further, that out of the profits arising from the sale of the book a sum exceeding Eight Thousand Pounds has been given to the Widows of Deceased Baptist Ministers. In the judgment of the Trustees the time bad arrived for a Supplement to be prepared, to be sold separately or bound up with the original Book. A Selection of 270 Hymns has accordingly been made, and it is hoped that the Supplement will be no less a favourite in the Churches than the Book has been ; and that it may continue greatly to help the “Worship of Praise" in the home, as well as the Service of God in the Sanctuary; and be of great spiritual profit to all who shall nise it. It is again sent forth with prayer for the Divine blessing to accompany it. “ The labour has been a labour of love, and its results are dedicated to the service of the Churches and the glory of God."
